Captain Mainwaring (Mick Whitman) was in control from his desk in the Dad's Army Museum, Thetford. The town was celebrating its 40 year association with the cult TV series over the weekend of the 26 and 27 July, 2008.
Engineering & Marine Industries Sector Group
Process for the Election of a Sector Chair.
Introduction.
In accord with the revised governance arrangements for the key sector groups within the Shaping Norfolk’s Future partnership, Engineering & Marine Industries are holding an election for the post of chair for the sector. This post will also encompass the role of chair for the Hethel Engineering Centre industry advisory panel. The said body acting as the lead (steering) group for the sector.

Tourism Funding
Breckland Council has approved £5,000 funding, enabling Thetford Town Council to carry out a range of tourism projects. These will promote the town's attractions and rich heritage and will boost visitor numbers.
River Corridor (Suggestions & Volunteers)
One of Thetford’s greatest assets is the river
corridor through the town. Over the years this has slowly been
enhanced and opened up and today is enjoyed by residents and visitors alike.
There is however scope to
improve this great asset further and it is with this in mind we are seeking
suggestions and ideas how this can
be achieved.
