Profile

I was born in London and moved to Thetford in 1968. At first I lived at Ash Close remaining there until 1975. Then I moved to the Abbey Estate. I moved to the Town Centre in 2003. I have four children and eight grandchildren.

I work as the Centre Manager at Riversdale, which is a centre for Charitable and voluntary organisations giving help and advice to the Community on a range of family related and disability issues including mental health.

I have worked with the Abbey Community since 1977. I spent five years from 1976- 1981 working at the Abbey Play Group, and I have been the Secretary of the Abbey Tenants & Residents Association for 17years.

In 2005 I became a Town Councillor in a by-election for the Abbey Ward. At the 2007 elections, I was elected as a Town Councillor and also a District Councillor . I enjoy my work as a Councillor, as it enables me to express the views of the electorate I represent.

Working with the community and organising projects gives me great enjoyment. I especially like working with the very young and teenagers. Some of the projects I have organised have been: Thetford Pop Idols, Thetford’s Got Talent, Bus trips to the Coast and Garden Fetes. I also help to organise on behalf of the Town Council the very popular free Band Concerts in the Kings House Gardens during the Summer months.
